Beside The Barn Wall, 2009
cedar shingles, fire, graphite
8 feet x 12 feet
Constructed from new cedar shingles that have been burned, marked and gouged, in a form of drawing to allude to the natural process of weathering, that may be found on a side of a barn.
The process was a collaborative effort involving multiple hands in the mark making, an act that makes reference to the tradition of community barn rising. Each cedar shingle is a form of drawing, marked individually by hand and when combined, form the large barn wall.
