Ryan Livingstone is a Toronto based artist, born in the rural East Coast of Canada.  His artistic practice is often project based and not bound by medium, exploring forms of installation, sculpture and painting.  The work is reminiscent of his geography spanning both the urban and rural, identifying specifically in a Canadian nature.   At its core, his work employs a semiotic system that brings our attention to nostalgic histories found within Canadian identities and culture, the rural landscape, the colour pink, the crow, barn and quilt.

Ryan has a background in paintng and printmaking, working particularly with encaustic (wax). The sculptural quality of wax eventually led towards a significant shift into the three dimesonal realm of sculpture and installation. He studied craft for a short time at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design before moving to Toronto in 2004, where he continued his studies at the Toronto School of Art and Ontario College of Art and Design.
